About the Programme:

This 8-week course provides foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in traditional Maaori healing practices. Through practical sessions, you will gain confidence in working with raakau rongoaa (healing plants) and deepen your connection with Te Taiao.

You will learn:

  • Learn the tikanga and kawa of Rongoā Māori
  • Develop knowledge of plant identification, harvesting, and preparation
  • Create herbal teas, potent tinctures, infused oils, balms, and healing foods
  • Gain hands-on experience in mirimiri and romiromi massage techniques
  • Take home your own handcrafted rongoaa creations

By the end of this programme, you will have practical skills and maatauranga to integrate Rongoā Māori into your daily life.

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend at least 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
