A Weekend Workshop with Ron Te Kawa

About the Workshop:

Join Us for a Creative 2-Day Workshop with Ron Te Kawa

Discover the vibrant world of storytelling through textiles with renowned artist Ron Te Kawa. In this hands-on workshop, Ron will guide participants through his distinctive quilting style, which boldly celebrates mātauranga Māori, self-expression and all things sparkly.

Ron’s quilts break away from tradition, weaving together all kinds of fabrics to create rich, imaginative scenes that reflect his personal journey and the stories of those who have shaped his life. His approach is tactile, expressive, and deeply rooted in cultural identity. You will create a small piece that can be attached to your satchel, jacket, cushion cover, or displayed as a small hanging.

Whether you're an experienced maker or simply curious, this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of Aotearoa’s most inspiring creative voices. Come stitch, share, and connect.
