Adult Contemporary Dance Taster Programme (Ages 17+)

This four-week programme is designed for adults aged 17 and over who want to explore contemporary dance in a relaxed, supportive, and creative environment. Whether you’re completely new to dance or looking to reconnect with movement, this is a chance to enjoy being active, learn new skills, and build confidence.

Participants will:

• Move and be physically active while feeling good
• Socialise and learn new skills or build on existing ones in a structured creative setting
• Develop musical rhythm and counting skills
• Gain confidence and feel empowered, while appreciating the capacity of your moving body
• Strengthen memory retention and the ability to perform choreography independently
• Improve dance foundations including proprioception, spatial awareness, coordination, strength, and flexibility

Lesson Outline:

• Week 1 (15 July): Warm-ups, basic technical movements, creative task
• Week 2 (22 July): Warm-ups, practise previous movements, begin choreography, creative task
• Week 3 (29 July): Warm-up, revise choreography, improvisation task, develop choreography further
• Week 4 (5 August): Warm-up, rehearse, and perform the routine independently

No prior dance experience needed – just come with an open mind and a willingness to move.
